Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 31, 2026

In short
  • Your decks, guides and portfolio live in your own Google Drive.
  • We never sell your data or show ads.
  • We never store your email address on our servers.
  • Your name and school are removed before your resume or essays go to the AI, and the AI never writes your essays.
  • You can delete your data at any time.

What BrainBear uses

AI features

Making flashcards from your notes, building a resume, and getting essay feedback send that text to Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI service, after a safety check. Your name, school and email are removed first for the resume and essays, and your GPA and test scores are never sent. The essay AI only asks questions about your writing; it never writes it for you. We don’t save what you send or what the AI replies, and Microsoft doesn’t use it to train AI.

What we keep on our servers

Only a few small records, none of which include your email address:

Sharing and publishing

Sharing works through Google Drive: a read‑only link, or access for a Google account you choose. If you publish a deck or guide to the community, it becomes public on GitHub under the CC BY 4.0 license, with your display name. Feedback and reports are posted as public GitHub issues; feedback shows your display name, and reports don’t say who sent them.

Google user data & Limited Use

BrainBear’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google account and Drive data only to provide BrainBear’s features, don’t transfer it to others except as needed to provide them, don’t use it for advertising, and don’t let people read it except with your consent or for security or legal reasons.

Deleting your data

Delete anything in BrainBear or straight from your Google Drive, or remove BrainBear’s access from your Google Account permissions. Leaving the leaderboard deletes your entry there. To delete any other records we keep, contact us.

Services we use

Google (sign‑in and Drive), Microsoft Azure (hosting, the small records above, and the AI and safety checks), and GitHub (community content and feedback).

Students

BrainBear is made for high‑school students. If you think a child’s information needs attention, contact us and we’ll help.
